Received into Glory! -- August 15, 2015
By Cheryl Ziemer — 2 hours ago
Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. Revelation 2:10
Carl's earthly journey has ended, and he has received the crown of life, not because of what he did or the life he lived. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:9)
Carl breathed his last breath this afternoon. The four children were with me. His breathing changed around 5:30 a.m., and the nurse advised calling in the children.  We gathered and waited almost 12 hours before the Lord took him home. Even though we had prepared ourselves that one or more of us might not be there when he took his last breath, we were all relieved that we were with him and together.
I am now home after 21 days in Rochester. I did not know how I would feel walking into my house again. It feels so good to be home! Since we lived each day preparing for this separation for the past eight months, coming home was OK. Our flower gardens are blooming beautifully.  The plants Carl planted, only a week before he could no longer walk, are blooming and make me smile. Our home is full of good memories.
Young Carl is staying with me tonight. Tomorrow we will be making arrangements for our farewell to our husband, father, and grandfather. We feel a bit empty, but yet full, knowing that Carl is no longer suffering and is enjoying the bliss of heaven!
Forever with the Lord! Amen! So let it be.
This day will be celebrated by our family as long as we live! This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.

WELS - the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod - is a Christ-preaching, Bible-believing, people-serving church. We are fully committed to the threefold principles of the Reformation: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone. We believe, teach and confess that salvation is ours by the grace (undeserved mercy) of God through faith in Jesus Christ, as taught in the Word of God. We hold to the Bible as the completely true and inspired Word of God, the only source and authority for Christian faith and life.
